I'm glad you address guys getting too close you're so far the only ones. Here's my experience: I love ballroom dancing and I bring my own partner my girl friend. Now it seems, its our responsibility that all single guys are entitled to multiple dances with my girl. This one night a particular guy during a bachata dance decided it was appropriate to act most inappropriately with my girlfriend, (it looked like he was trying to start a family) numerous times and I was deeply grieved and offended. later I was informed that all ballroom dancers are desensitized (like a frog in a pan of water their conscience has been boiled to death) and thats no big deal. Well it is to me, and since my partner lacks the temerity to tap a guy on the arm for fear she may offend the precious dance ediquitte which is worshipped by all, and tell him to act appropriately or simply push him away when dancing that way with someonelses girl, or better yet walk off the dance floor, she and I are will no longer switching partners. Etiquette shmetiquitte... in simpler terms it seems appropriate behavior is only one sided and this needs to be addressed, because in today sexually charged society it's deparately needed!

It's interesting observing the interest around the world about this African dance - Kizomba. This excitement with kizomba dance is a revelation of how little the world knows about the rich African heritage and culture. African culture celebrates/expresses every occasion/activity with a dance ( be it birth, naming, death, courting, harvest, war, initiation into life stages, working on farms, hunting, etc.). Yes Kizomba is a fantastic romantic dance - but beside the excitement, I wonder whether anyone not African has given enough attention to the real meaning and origins behind the dance. Or perhaps is this testimony that Africans have been the champions at romance from time immemorial and the world is just discovering now? Every African community has a version for every activity. There are more kizombas for the world to discover on the continent! As an African, I'm proud that Kizomba has woken up the world to realise how the little known about the richness of African culture is only a tip of the iceberg.
